Founders at Work: Therna Biosciences

About:

Founders at Work is MBC BioLabs' monthly seminar series spotlighting distinguished resident and alumni companies from their San Francisco and San Carlos lab community. The June 11 session features Therna Biosciences, a biotechnology company combining generative AI and RNA foundation models to design programmable RNA medicines for genetic and rare diseases, ophthalmology, and immunology.

The session is anchored by three speakers: Co-Founder & CEO Nazli Azimi, PhD (former founder/CEO of Bioniz Therapeutics and Dermaheal); Scientific Co-Founder Hani Goodarzi, PhD (UCSF Associate Professor, Arc Institute Core Investigator, and AI research lead); and Kevin Kipp, PhD, Senior Director of Preclinical Development. The conversation will cover Therna's origins inside Goodarzi's UCSF lab, the company's RNA Intelligence Platform, and its applications for designing novel RNA medicines.

For leaders in biotech, AI-driven drug discovery, RNA therapeutics, and life sciences investing — particularly those based in or visiting the Bay Area — this is a rare, close-range conversation with one of the most scientifically credentialed RNA + AI founder teams currently building.
